How much does a lesson cost?

Teachers set their own rates. As of September 2026 most lessons cost £26.25 to £84.00 per hour, and the average is £47.25/hour. Every price already includes our service fee.

Is anything added at checkout?

No. The rate on a teacher's profile is the amount you are charged. Our service fee is inside that number rather than added to it.

Do I pay a subscription to book?

No marketplace subscription is required for normal lesson booking. You pay for the lessons you book and nothing else. Lesson bookings and Opelo are billed separately.

What if I need to cancel?

Give at least 24 hours' notice and you are refunded in full. Under 24 hours the lesson is charged and your teacher is paid for it, because the slot was held for you and cannot be filled at that notice. If your teacher cancels, you are refunded in full whatever the notice.

How do I pay?

Where checkout is enabled, payment is taken by card through Stripe and the terms are shown before you confirm. Your card details never reach us.

Can I buy a block of lessons?

Some teachers sell packages of 4, 8, 12 lessons at 3%, 7%, 10% off. You spend one credit per lesson.
