1. Introduction

Welcome to LearnMusic. These Terms of Service govern your use of our marketplace platform and related services. By using LearnMusic, you agree to these Terms.

In these Terms, Music Education Technology Ltd is the operating entity referred to as we, us, and our.

LearnMusic operates two distinct services:

  • The Marketplace: A safeguarded platform where students find vetted music teachers, book lessons, and pay securely.
  • AI Practice Assistant: A separate app and web experience that provides practice guidance between lessons.

2. Eligibility

To use LearnMusic, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old, or have parental/guardian consent if under 18
  • Provide accurate, complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

3. The Marketplace

3.1 Our Role

LearnMusic operates as a marketplace connecting students with independent music teachers. We are not a tutoring agency. Teachers are independent contractors, not employees of LearnMusic.

3.2 Teacher Vetting

We review identity, DBS, and qualification information submitted by teachers and display verification statuses where checks have been completed. Teachers remain responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide.

3.3 Bookings and Payments

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Teachers set their own rates
  • Platform fees are included in displayed prices
  • Refunds are subject to the cancellation policy below

3.4 Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before your lesson and you are refunded in full.
  • Cancel less than 24 hours before, and the lesson is charged. Your teacher is paid for it: the time was held for you and cannot be filled at that notice.
  • If your teacher cancels, you are refunded in full whatever the notice.

Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

3.5 Safeguarding

We apply moderation controls to on-platform messaging and may review communications when investigating safety concerns, abuse reports, or policy breaches. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate safeguarding policies.

4. AI Practice Assistant

The AI Practice Assistant is a separate service with its own subscription. It provides practice guidance and feedback but:

  • Does not replace professional music instruction
  • Is designed to reinforce what teachers assign
  • May not be suitable for all learning needs
  • Requires a separate subscription from marketplace lesson bookings

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Provide false information
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Circumvent payment through off-platform transactions, subject to the finite scope, prospective acceptance, exceptions and safeguards of the Teacher Introduction Terms for teacher introductions and related lesson payments
  • Share inappropriate content
  • Violate intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems

6. Intellectual Property

All content on LearnMusic, including logos, designs, and software, is owned by LearnMusic or our licensors. You may not use our intellectual property without written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

LearnMusic is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or specific learning outcomes. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time. Outstanding payments and obligations survive termination.

For teacher introduction and payment restrictions, the Teacher Introduction Terms govern the evidence, reasons, notice, review and proportionate response required, and preserve financial records, existing-booking support and sums already due. Account closure neither cancels nor extends their finite Protection Period; LearnMusic will provide a workable booking route as described there.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of significant changes via email or platform notification.

This continued-use provision does not apply to a new or materially expanded teacher introduction restriction. The Teacher Introduction Terms require the applicable durable notice and recorded express acceptance before such a restriction applies to future introductions. Earlier introductions, earned fees and existing contractual rights are unaffected; any proposed change to an existing teacher’s future access follows the applicable notice and review process.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
