Review and accept in your teacher accountT1. Application and purpose
These Teacher Introduction Terms form part of the agreement between Music Education Technology Ltd, trading as LearnMusic, and you when you use LearnMusic to offer teaching services in your business or profession. They take effect for you on the later of the stated effective date and your express acceptance. They apply only to qualifying introductions made after that time. They do not retrospectively change an earlier introduction, completed transaction or accrued payment entitlement.
LearnMusic invests in attracting students, presenting teacher profiles and operating booking and payment services. The limited protection below supports that investment and continued access to new students. It does not prevent you from teaching independently or working with students whom LearnMusic did not introduce.
T2. What counts as an introduction
An Introduction occurs when LearnMusic first makes a genuine, identifiable student's enquiry or booking request specifically directed to you available in your teacher account, together with a notification to your registered email address. A profile view, general directory listing, unsolicited marketing message or fraudulent enquiry alone is not an Introduction. A parent or guardian enquiring for a named learner represents that learner for this purpose.
We will show the Introduction date and protection end date in your account. If the date or student identity is wrong, contact team@learn-music.co.uk so we can review the evidence and correct it. A new enquiry, cancellation, account change or later rebooking by the same student does not restart the period.
A student is excluded if, before the Introduction, you already taught that student or had a genuine, independently established enquiry about teaching that student. Tell us as soon as reasonably practical and provide proportionate supporting evidence if requested. Failure to report immediately does not by itself remove a genuine pre-existing-relationship exception. This provision does not capture other family members automatically.
T3. Three-month protection period
For each qualifying Introduction, the Protection Period begins at its recorded date and time and ends at the same local time three calendar months later, using Europe/London time. Where the final month has no corresponding calendar date, the period ends on its last day at that local time. We will display the exact end date and time; the period does not renew automatically.
During that period, all paid music lessons you provide to that introduced student must be booked and paid through LearnMusic. You must not move those bookings or payments off-platform unless LearnMusic has first expressly authorised a specific exception in writing. No general paid-release option applies under these terms. You must not solicit, encourage, arrange or knowingly accept direct or third-party payment for those lessons, including cash, bank transfer or a payment link outside LearnMusic. You must not cancel, misdescribe, conceal, artificially postpone or move a booking to evade this requirement. You must not arrange payment through another person, business, account or payment processor on your behalf to evade it, or knowingly participate in a student's arrangement to do so.
If the student asks to pay directly during the period, explain the requirement and direct them to the appropriate LearnMusic booking route. A student asking, agreeing or preferring to pay directly is not an exception and does not waive your obligation. You are not required to accept a lesson or work without payment.
This clause concerns booking and payment, not a ban on legitimate lesson-related communication or face-to-face teaching. Separate safeguarding and communications rules still apply. It applies to lessons scheduled to take place during the Protection Period, not an unlimited stream of future lessons. After it expires, this clause does not require subsequent lessons to be booked through LearnMusic. Existing paid bookings remain subject to their booking, cancellation and refund terms; their date must not be manipulated to evade this clause.
T4. Practical exceptions and corrections
Ask team@learn-music.co.uk for help if a genuine technical problem prevents a booking or payment. We may authorise a specific alternative in writing. Do not charge twice, misrepresent a transaction or create a fictitious booking. If a student pays you outside LearnMusic by mistake, notify us promptly so we can agree a lawful correction with the parties, taking account of refunds, payment-processing limitations and the student's rights. Prompt reporting and cooperation will be considered when deciding the appropriate response.
T5. Review and consequences
Where there is credible evidence of a breach, we will explain the relevant facts, the clause involved and the proposed response, and normally give you a reasonable opportunity to respond and correct the issue. An absence of repeat bookings, silence or suspicion alone is not conclusive evidence of circumvention.
Depending on the seriousness, intent, recurrence and impact, we may give a warning, require a proportionate corrective action, temporarily restrict new introductions or profile promotion, suspend a listing, or terminate access to the marketplace. Deliberate circumvention is a serious breach. One confirmed deliberate incident may be sufficient to terminate your marketplace access and remove your profile from LearnMusic's search, recommendations and marketing, even if you have not previously received a warning. Repeated breaches may also justify termination. We will assess the evidence and circumstances, follow the notice and review requirements below, and distinguish deliberate evasion from a genuine error. This is not an automatic penalty triggered by suspicion.
We will give a written statement of reasons in a form you can retain, including the scope and effective date of the restriction and how to request review. For a restriction or suspension, we will normally provide this before or when it takes effect. For termination of all marketplace services, we will ordinarily provide at least 30 days' notice, and comply with any longer applicable requirement. Shorter notice will be used only where a specific applicable legal exception permits it, with the reason recorded and explained to the extent law allows.
You may request a review through team@learn-music.co.uk. We will consider your evidence and give a reasoned outcome within a reasonable period. Where a decision is reversed, we will restore the affected access without undue delay. A restriction must not unnecessarily prevent you from viewing financial records, addressing existing bookings or receiving sums already due. Safeguarding and urgent legal requirements remain separately applicable.
T6. Payments and remedies
A breach does not automatically convert your first lesson payment, or any other earned lesson payment, into a finder fee. Sums due for completed lessons remain subject to the applicable payment, refund, chargeback and lawful deduction arrangements already agreed for those transactions.
We may seek remedies available under the applicable agreement and law, but these terms do not authorise an arbitrary penalty, retrospective fee or automatic confiscation of earnings. Any disputed claim against you will be explained separately and will not be treated as an established debt merely because LearnMusic alleges a breach. Nothing in this addendum creates a new right to debit your payment method or deduct a disputed sum from your earnings.
T7. Leaving LearnMusic and future changes
Closing or deleting your account, removing your listing, changing your contact details or moving to another account does not cancel or restart an existing Protection Period. You must continue to comply with the booking and payment obligation for the remainder of that period. Before closing your account, contact us so we can provide a workable route for any remaining protected bookings. We will not extend the three-month period because you leave. If LearnMusic ends your access and cannot provide a workable booking route, we will not rely on this clause to prevent the affected lessons from continuing solely because that route is unavailable.
We will provide proposed changes to these Teacher Introduction Terms in a form you can retain, explaining the effective date and any action needed. We will give at least 15 days' notice, and longer when legally required or reasonably necessary for relevant adaptations, unless a specific lawful exception applies. For a new or materially expanded introduction restriction, we will require recorded express acceptance before applying it to future introductions. Once the new terms are effective for the relevant onboarding or migration process, no new introductions will be provided under them without that recorded acceptance; any restriction of an existing teacher's access will follow the applicable notice and review requirements. We will not apply adverse new terms retrospectively. If you decline, we will explain any proposed change to future access and follow the applicable notice and review process; earned fees and existing contractual rights remain unaffected.
